SHR was founded in 1991 as an independant timber research institute. In that mather we are not only the most important research institute in The Netherlands, but much more than that.
Philosophy
It is our philosophy to serve companies according to a multidisciplinary and practical approach in relation to material technologies..
After all, wood needs to be fastened and finished and in practice it will often be used in combination with other materials. For that reason the staf of SHR consists, besides specialist on wood technology, also of mathematicians, polymer technologists, physicists and constructors. Each one of them is highly educated and has a lot of experience. Besides that it is our aim to work as much as possible on important national and international (material and product) developments.
